together with associated transport
infrastructure and urban development.
The study was intended first to
identify and evaluate a range of viable

related infrastructure and required urban

Client: HK Planning Department

Our firm was appointed to undertake a 10 years review of the
Metropolitan plan for Hong Kong. Its purpose was to establish
a desirable pattern of land uses and type of development as a
framework for plan making and development control at district
level, to consolidate sectoral policies of different agencies
and set them in a coherent framework for coordinating plans
and action and to identify opportunities for change and meet
forecast needs. The recommendations of the study served
as a framework to guide the formulation of development
control, plan making and infrastructure planning in the
metropolitan area. Among them the government incorporated
the recommendations of the Review of Kowloon Density
into the relevant Outline Zoning Plans. During this period
the community was fully consulted on the key elements that
should be considered in the development strategy for the
Metropolitan Areas. |
